Sprain, should hot compress or cold compress?

Never apply hot compress when you just sprained!

First of all, you should rest more and don’t move the sprained place. During the rest, you can raise the sprained part to a position higher than the heart.

Then there is cold compress! Within 48 hours, you can wrap the ice bag with a towel or use iced mineral water to cold compress the sprained position, and only after 48 hours can you hot compress.

If conditions permit, the injured joint can also be wrapped with elastic bandage, which can be tightened properly to reduce swelling under pressure.

It’s really painful. You can also take an analgesic.

If the condition of the sprained area deteriorates, for example, the above methods have not improved, and the injured area turns purple cyan, numbness, unconsciousness or tingling sensation, don’t stay at home and go to the hospital quickly.
