Pregnant woman thigh middle pain? Be careful of pubic symphysis separation!

Pregnancy is happy and hard. From frequent vomiting and urination in the early stage to out-of-shape figure in the later stage, the expectant mother will suffer a lot, not to mention lumbago, leg pain, arm pain and other pains. Pregnancy really makes the expectant mother very strong.

However, in the clinic, some expectant mothers with big stomachs twisted one step at a time and said with a full face of pain: “Doctor, I feel very painful in the middle of my thighs and cannot walk.”

Why is there pain in the middle of pregnant women’s thighs?

Some people think that the child may be too old, the burden is heavy and the rest is not good. Although some pregnant women do relieve the pain after rest, there are a small number of pregnant women whose pain is not relieved or even aggravated. Next, let’s look for the reason together.

First of all, pregnant women should think carefully about the answers to these three questions:

  1. Is it not painful when sitting or lying still, and it hurts when getting up or turning over?

  2. Is it very painful when your legs are separated, even sometimes your legs cannot be separated?

  3. Is the location of the pain mainly at the thigh root, which may also spread to the surroundings, and even unable to walk normally in severe cases?

If the answer to the above questions is [yes], then the pain is probably due to a special situation called [pubic symphysis separation].

What is pubic symphysis separated?

The normal pubic bone (that is, the bone in the middle of the thigh) is connected by the pubic ligament, so it is called [pubic symphysis].

After pregnancy, due to the effect of progesterone, the pubic ligament will relax and the distance between pubic bones will increase to about 9 mm.

For those pregnant women with pain, the pubic bones on both sides are too divided, exceeding 10 mm, which is called [pubic symphysis separation].

Pubic symphysis separation mostly occurs during pregnancy and childbirth. Although the incidence rate is very low, it brings great pain to pregnant women. If pregnant women feel unbearable pain in the middle of their thighs, they must see a doctor in time.

Why do some people not separate, some people will separate?

There are many possibilities, such as:

The fetus is too large; Pregnant women are too young; Too fat or thin; The interval between pregnancy and childbirth is short and many times. During production, the legs spread too hard and too wide. Experience of carrying heavy loads during pregnancy; Overwork, etc.

If none of the above reasons can be taken into account, it may also be due to the relatively weak pubic symphysis joint of pregnant and lying-in women.

What should I do if the pubic symphysis is separated?

If the pain is just found and the pain is not very severe, it may only be that the pubic symphysis widens during normal pregnancy, then try these methods to relieve it:

  1. Proper calcium supplement, more bed rest. Don’t stick to the left lying position, how comfortable how to come.

  2. Don’t walk too far or climb the stairs.

  3. Try not to squat down or carry heavy objects.

If it is already very painful and the above methods do not work at all, then go to see a doctor, who may take these methods to treat it:

  1. Use [pelvic strap].

  2. Local sealing needle to relieve pain.

However, these methods can only control the symptoms and cannot cure them. After all, there are relatively few methods available before the child is born.

Another point is very important, that is, to reduce the psychological burden of pregnant women as much as possible, pubic symphysis separation will not hinder normal delivery, after giving birth to the child slowly will not hurt, so don’t worry too much.

Is there any way to prevent it?

Since there are few treatment methods, prevention is also very important. Attention should be paid to the following points:

  1. During pregnancy preparation and pregnancy, moderate exercise should be adhered to to to strengthen bones.

  2. While ensuring nutrition, we should eat reasonably to avoid excessive weight gain and reduce the burden on the body.

  3. Avoid overwork and do not lift heavy objects.

  4. Wear comfortable flat shoes, etc.

There are no trivial matters during pregnancy, so be cautious in everything. I hope all expectant mothers can avoid pain and have a healthy and lovely baby smoothly.
