A Mother’s True Test Tube Story (11): Egg Collection, Egg Collection, Egg Collection…

After the night injection, the eggs will be taken in 2 days. In the process of doing IVF, taking eggs is what I am most afraid to face.

From the beginning of ovulation induction, my mental pressure was very great. I couldn’t eat or sleep well. I searched all over the world for the answer of “no pain in taking eggs” and even thought of escaping from the battle.

Preparation before egg retrieval operation

As I was arranged to be the first to take eggs in this batch, I was really nervous, but I silently told myself that even if it was painful, I had to walk out with my head held high and never put pressure on the sisters behind.

In order to ease my nervousness, I went to the park the day before taking the eggs. However, my cell phone was [confiscated] that night and I was not allowed to go online to check the so-called “pain or pain” information.

At 8: 00 a.m., after the doctor asked our husband and wife to sign, the preparation for the operation began. The girls were required to put on long gown and take off their underpants.

Soon, at 8: 25, the nurse came to call my name. After entering the operating room, the nurse led me to lie on the operating table.

Today, it was Dr. Zhou who took the eggs. I heard for a long time that she was a [gentle doctor] from the reproductive center of Shaw Hospital, so I was relieved. However, I couldn’t help but tell her that I was very nervous. Fortunately, Dr. Zhou kept encouraging me and relaxing me all the way. I really thank her very much.

The operation is about to begin, I grabbed the mattress with both hands, just like on TV. However, the nurse still came to clean me, pouring some warm water on my belly first, and then constantly [stirring] in my vagina, cleaning many times. Many people said that cleaning was very uncomfortable, but I felt that there was no discomfort and pain when cleaning, just feeling that the washing took a little long.

After that, the nurse said gently to me, “I’m going to give you anesthesia.” The anesthetic was hit on the vaginal opening. I could feel the nurse opening the vaginal opening, but I didn’t feel the needle at all when I was in what. Maybe I was numb when I kept turning it over when I was cleaning in front.

After the anesthetic was done, the preparatory work was completed, and Dr. Zhou took the eggs. In this time gap, I secretly pinched my stomach with my hand, silly to feel whether the anesthetic had worked. Sadly, the feeling of pinching my stomach was so clear that I laughed.

Beginning of oocyte retrieval operation

Dr. Zhou quickly changed the surgical clothes and prepared the tools. I did not dare to look at her tools, but only stared at the ceiling.

Soon, I could feel the probe of vaginal B-ultrasound sticking in and looking for it on the right side. Within a few seconds, there was a slight stimulation sensation than drawing blood and puncturing a needle to promote discharge. My heart began to relax. This tingling sensation will continue until the right ovary is ready to take eggs.

Next, Dr. Zhou told me to take out the left ovary. She said that my left ovary has fewer follicles and should be faster. It is good to stick to it for a while, but after looking at it, she said, “The left side may be worse than the right side”.

However, because I knew in advance that the left ovary was a little bad and several follicles were located behind the uterus, I began to get nervous again. At this moment, my head began to faint, but the left ovary did not feel anything when taking the eggs, so I had to look forward to the end of Dr. Zhou’s speech in my heart.

Soon, all the egg retrieval processes were over, and Dr. Zhou also said to the nurse that the left side passed through the uterus but did not hurt the endometrium.

I said thank you to Dr. Zhou. In fact, I really appreciate her, because she was the doctor I met when I first came to the hospital. Perhaps I was predestined friends with her. I met her when I entered Zhou, promoted platoon, took eggs and other key time points. This kind of gratitude is not included in a thank you.

After the oocyte retrieval operation is completed,

Together, I felt dizzy and couldn’t see the things around me clearly, so the nurse helped me out of the operating room.

At the thought of the sisters waiting outside, I immediately adjusted my expression. I wanted to tell them that it really didn’t hurt, just a little dizzy. My husband was at the door of the operating room, and he immediately helped me. My tears almost fell down, probably because the long depression was released.

Fortunately, our group of sisters who took eggs went smoothly, with the largest number of 20 and the smallest number of 9. Everyone got a satisfactory number. The doctor said that about 15 eggs were ideal, so I was also very satisfied with the number of 14 eggs.

Here, I would like to remind the sisters that they should replenish more water after taking eggs, drink mineral water, orange juice, wax gourd soup and milk, and urinate smoothly. Doctors say this is to prevent ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is a complication in IVF, which is related to ovulation induction and egg retrieval.

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is divided into mild, moderate and severe. People with mild and moderate ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome usually have nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension and other manifestations, which usually do not need treatment and will slowly improve themselves.

However, if pleural effusion, ascites, thrombosis and other conditions occur, it is severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, which requires hospitalization. Most patients will improve soon after treatment.

After taking the eggs, I felt relaxed in the morning. In the afternoon, my abdomen was extremely distended and accompanied by abdominal pain. I felt that the feeling after taking the eggs was even worse than when taking the eggs.

But after about 4 days, I felt much better and slowly recovered.

Even the timid me finally passed the egg retrieval mark and got 14 eggs. The questions that countless sisters are concerned about also have the answer: the egg retrieval process is really not painful, relax and be brave.
