Does it matter if the child touches the lymph nodes?

Many parents accidentally discovered that their children had several small bags around their necks, the size of peanuts, which felt slippery and slippery. They thought they were what’s stuff and rushed to the hospital.

This kind of situation is very common, every time I go out of the clinic, I can almost encounter it. In the past, when I was in emergency surgery, I also encountered several emergency visits to lymph nodes at night because parents found these bags when bathing their children at night.

Doctors often confirm that it is a normal lymph node after seeing it, but many parents are still very nervous because many people have heard of some serious diseases related to [lymph], such as lymphoma and leukemia in what.

Why do your children have lymph nodes? Does it matter? Do you want treatment? This is the question of many parents.

Why do lymph nodes grow?

No matter adults or children, everyone has many lymph nodes and they gather in groups.

Each group of lymph nodes is in charge of a part of the body. When bacteria and viruses invading the body are sent into the lymph nodes from lymphatic vessels, most of them will be filtered and removed by the lymph nodes. At the same time, they will stimulate the immune system of the human body and cause immune response, including reactive hyperplasia of lymph nodes.

Therefore, lymph nodes are not only a barrier to the human body, but also an alarm.

Why can’t adults touch so many lymph nodes?

When a child is first born, lymph nodes are generally not touched.

After birth, they begin to contact with various pathogens. The child’s immune system is constantly improving and maturing in contact with pathogens. As a part of the immune system, lymph nodes will slowly proliferate in this process, so a large proportion of children can touch it, especially behind the back of the head, neck and ears.

On the one hand, these parts are easier to be found because they are relatively exposed; Another possible reason is that children’s upper respiratory tract infection is very common, and lymph nodes in these parts are often prone to hyperplasia under inflammatory stimulation.

This hyperplasia process will continue until puberty, then the lymph nodes will slowly shrink and gradually become invisible, so adults rarely touch the lymph nodes.

Such lymph nodes don’t matter

Some people count that about half of the children can touch lymph nodes, so if their children do, they don’t need to be nervous, most of them are normal hyperplasia.

Normal lymph nodes mostly have the following characteristics:

  1. Size: The size of soybeans or peanuts;

  2. Tactile feeling: smooth surface, flexible texture, sliding;

  3. Painless: It does not feel painful;

  4. No other symptoms: the child will not have any other discomfort.

If this is the case, dynamic observation is enough. Neither injections nor antibiotics are required, nor what and traditional Chinese medicine are required.

How’s lymph nodes need to see a doctor?

What needs to be vigilant is those abnormal lymph node changes.

It is generally believed that when the diameter of the lymph nodes in the neck and armpit exceeds 1 cm and the diameter of the groin region exceeds 1.5 cm, the lymph nodes will be abnormally enlarged.

There are many reasons for abnormal lymph node changes, the most common of which is infection, including common bacterial and viral infections, as well as special bacterial, viral and other pathogenic infections, requiring anti-infection or symptomatic treatment.

There are also some manifestations of autoimmune diseases, malignant tumors and other diseases, such as lymphoma and leukemia mentioned earlier. This is also the most worrying problem for parents. Although it is relatively rare, it is more troublesome when encountered and requires doctors to do detailed examination to investigate.

After catching a cold and fever, many children will find lymph node enlargement, but if any of the following conditions occur, be careful:

  1. Lymph nodes continue to enlarge and do not subside.

  2. Lymph nodes increased rapidly within a week or two.

  3. Several lymph nodes fused into a mass, becoming extremely hard and fixed and unable to slide.

  4. The child developed other physical symptoms at the same time.

At this time, it is best to find a doctor to check to see if there is any problem. The reason is what, and then decide whether to treat it.
