How should oily skin be cared for when you love oily and sweaty summer?

Violent sunshine and unbearable high temperature are the most intolerable things in summer.

But for people with oily skin, there is another thing that makes them mad in summer, that is, the uncontrollable greasiness.

Hair oil, face oil, even the chest and back are smooth.

Today, Dr. Clove will talk to you about the things behind the oily skin.

Where does the oil on the skin come from?

Skin oil refers to sebum, which is secreted by sebaceous glands, an accessory of our skin.

Sebum membrane can be formed on the skin surface to protect the skin, prevent chapped skin, and lubricate skin and hair.

Sebum prevents sweat from being lost from the skin when the weather is hot. In cold weather, sebum can isolate rainwater from skin and hair surfaces.

The oil produced by the skin is not redundant, nor is it waste discharged by the body.

Why is my skin so oily?

Although sebum is important, too much sebum will become a burden. Excessive sebum will make people feel greasy skin and hair, and sometimes even seborrheic dermatitis.

This is because the secretion function of sebaceous glands is affected by multiple factors such as age, sex, race, temperature, humidity, location and sex hormone level, and the regulation cannot be so fine. For example:

Young people’s skin will be oily, Especially men. And when they get old, Oily skin is basically invisible. In summer, hair and skin are prone to oil: Because for every 1 ℃ increase in skin temperature, sebum secretion increases by 10%. The skin on the face, behind the ears, chest and upper back is always more greasy than the skin on other parts of the back. Increased levels of androgen, or the activity of enzymes that convert androgen into active products, will increase sebum secretion.

Therefore, the cause of the problem of excessive skin oil production may be very complicated.

Why does the face wash more and more oil?

People with skin oil often use soap-based facial cleanser with strong cleaning ability when washing their faces. Some people even use soap directly in order to clean up.

The moment when the grease is washed off is refreshing and attractive. However, if the sebum on the skin surface is removed, the sebaceous glands will immediately secrete a large amount of sebum again at a very fast rate to supplement the lost sebum, and repeated cleaning will stimulate the proliferation and secretion function of the sebaceous glands.

This is why the more the face is washed, the more oily the face is, and the more pores are washed, the thicker the pores are. In fact, this is the manifestation of sebaceous gland hyperplasia and hypertrophy.

Similarly, some people like to use oil-absorbing paper to absorb excessive sebum.

However, this method, like frequent cleaning, will also stimulate sebum to secrete further, resulting in the helpless phenomenon that the more oil is used, the more oil is used.

What can I do?

Although repeated cleaning is not advocated, scientific cleaning is very necessary.

Scientific cleaning, in short, is to select the appropriate detergent according to the amount of sebum, adjust the cleaning frequency, and take the skin as non-greasy and non-dry.

In addition, the moisturizing ingredients in products such as oil control and conditioning condensation can delay the process of sebum compensatory secretion and keep the freshness longer after washing face. Therefore, moderate cleaning, combined with scientific moisturizing after cleaning, can relieve the greasy discomfort of our skin.

However, none of the above can completely solve the problem.

As mentioned earlier, sebum secretion is affected by factors that we cannot change, such as age, sex and race, as well as factors that are too difficult and costly to adjust androgen level and activity, so it is difficult to fundamentally change.

But don’t despair, ambient temperature and humidity are still optional:

Therefore, when summer is hot, stay in the air-conditioned room as far as possible. It’s really not possible. It’s also excellent to take a cold bath without shower gel.

The skin is too oily. How?

Seborrheic dermatitis

If the nasolabial groove, eyebrows and perioral parts of the face are always red and itchy over and over again, then be careful of seborrheic dermatitis.

Scalp is also a good hair part of seborrheic dermatitis. If the hair is often too greasy soon, and the scalp is always itchy, and there is more dandruff in winter, you should go to a regular dermatologist in time.

Fungal propagation

If sebum secretion is excessive, be careful of fungal reproduction.

For example, [sweat spot] this light brown or light white plaque is tinea versicolor caused by tinea versicolor.

Some red pimples on the back and chest of young people may be Malassezia furfur folliculitis. So if you find these things on yourself, you’d better see a doctor.

Acne

Although the pathogenesis of acne is complex, the incidence rate of oily skin acne is much higher than that of other types of skin. After all, sebum oversecretion plays a very important role in the pathogenesis of acne.

General skin oil can be handled by scientific skin cleaning and care. However, if acne is repeated and becomes more and more unmanageable, it is time to find a professional dermatologist to deal with it as soon as possible.

Sebum, as the [oil] produced by the human body itself, is an important substance to maintain the health of our skin, not more or less.

What we can do is to let the more oil be reasonably controlled and the less oil be replenished from the outside in time.
