Is depilation bad for your health? Four Truths about Hair Removal

I want to depilate, but my heart is very tangled. I heard people say that depilation affects sweating, body detoxification, and the pain of depilation is intolerable…

Don’t worry, Dr. Clove has invited a professional dermatologist to tell everyone about [stripping naked].

1. Does depilation affect sweat gland perspiration?

Hair follicles and sweat glands are two separate tissues. Hair grows from hair follicles while sweat glands are beside hair follicles. The two are not the same thing.

Hair removal acts on the hair in the hair follicle, does not damage the sweat glands, and does not affect sweat gland perspiration.

2. Can shaving armpit hair prevent lymph from detoxifying?

Lymph belongs to the peripheral immune system of human beings and is the [sentry] circulating in lymphatic vessels. It can filter and resist foreign invading viruses and bacteria. It can also be popularly understood as the [detoxification] function handed down by word of mouth. However, external use, massage and other methods will not affect lymph.

Lymphocytes are usually at rest when the body is normal, and the only way to be activated is to be stimulated by corresponding antigens, that is, when foreign viruses or bacteria invade, to play the role of sentinels. Therefore, shaving armpit hair will certainly not affect lymph detoxification.

Is depilation bad for your health?

Hair removal only affects hair. Targeting melanin will not affect surrounding tissues, let alone [deep tissues]!

Taking laser depilation as an example, it also needs to bear certain risks. During depilation, there will be slight tingling sensation, slight burning sensation after operation, mild erythema and follicular papules on local skin, which can disappear within a few hours.

Individual patients will have purpura, blisters, temporary pigmentation or hypopigmentation, most of which can recover after several months.

In order to reduce side effects, attention should be paid to strict sun protection one month before and after surgery, because sun exposure will make melanocytes active and easy to cause side effects such as heavy color. Ice compress is needed in time during and after surgery to relieve pain and reduce postoperative edema.

4. Is depilation of private parts good or not?

Bikini lines are located around the perineum, and many people need to remove hair from hidden parts to prevent indecent [weeds] when wearing sexy and charming bikini swimsuits. If you want to remove parts that are easy to expose in small inner parts, it is still safer.

If the local skin is extremely thin, suffering from varicose veins, acne, or wounds, it needs to be relieved. Some beautiful girls require [complete removal]. In the skin especially close to the labia majora, it is generally too thin and tender, and the local skin color is darker, which is probably not suitable for removal.

Dispel these doubts, you can rest assured to take off. However, there are so many ways to depilate, which one should I choose?

Let’s talk about the advantages and disadvantages of different depilation methods one by one:

Common depilation methods

First of all, we need a little common sense of popular science:

Hair growth is divided into three periods: growth period is about 3 years, degeneration period is about 3 days, and quiescence period is about 3 months.

A single treatment is generally more effective only for hair follicles in the growth period, while the melanin content in hair follicles in the degenerative and quiescent periods is very small, and can only work after these hairs are transferred to the growth period (which often takes 2-4 months).

Step 1 Shaving

As long as you don’t scratch your skin and scratch yourself, scratching is the safest way.

However, [cutting grass does not remove roots, they are tall once more in the spring wind], shaving can only be aimed at the surface fur, and the continuity is poor. Within a few days, new hair will grow out again.

Step 2: Pull the hair

Those who can pull out hair one by one are all real warriors. Pulling out this method is not only time-consuming, but also extremely painful!

The advantage is that it lasts for a long time and can last for 6-8 weeks. However, the stimulation brought by plucking hair will also make the skin prone to folliculitis, so special care is needed when operating.

3. Depilate agent

The most common active ingredient of depilatory cream is mercaptoacetate, which can dissolve hair into [gelatinous] and then easily [erase] Mao Mao.

This method takes effect quickly and has light pain, but it can only last for about 2 weeks. In addition, most depilatory creams have unpleasant smell and are prone to allergy.

Step 4: Beeswax

Compared with the rough method of pulling out beeswax directly, the pain of wax depilation is slightly lower, but it is only effective for growing hair.

Of course, if you just want to achieve a more accurate depilation effect on local hair, such as the [moustache] on the face, eyebrow finishing and bikini parts, you can still choose.

5. Electrolytic depilation

Can achieve the effect of permanent depilation, but the pain is strong, improper operation has the risk of scar, so it has been rarely used now.

If someone sells electrolytic depilation to you, you’d better refuse him.

6. Optical depilation

Laser and light can target melanin at the hair root and concentrate energy on the [hair root], thus destroying the growing hair and causing the hair to be removed from the root, thus achieving the effect of depilation. Since laser and photon are only effective for growing hair, they must be treated continuously for about 5 times before [removing root].

Since the laser targets [melanin], the thicker and darker the hair, the more obvious the target is, and the better the effect is relatively.

Generally speaking, thick hair on hairline, armpit hair, beard, bikini, limbs and other parts is suitable for semiconductor laser depilation. Small hair on lips, limbs and other parts is suitable for photon depilation.
