Friend, should your thyroid gland be reexamined?

Having thyroid disease, the most concerned problem is not only taking what medicine, but also reviewing it in what. Compare with the following schedule to see if you should have a reexamination.

Hyperthyroidism

Review Time:

1. If oral medication is selected-

Newly diagnosed hyperthyroidism, After taking the medicine for 1 ~ 2 weeks, the liver function and blood routine should be checked once. After taking the medicine for 1 month, the nail function, liver function and blood routine should be checked once. After that, Nail function, liver function and blood routine are reexamined every 1 month. After the treatment enters the consolidation period (i.e. The nail function returns to normal, the condition is stable, and there is no need to adjust the dosage frequently), the nail function, liver function and blood routine can be prolonged to be reexamined every 2-3 months.

2. If iodine 131 therapy is selected-

After one month of iodine 131 treatment, it will be reexamined. After that, it will be reexamined every 2 ~ 3 months within half a year. After half a year of iodine 131 treatment, it will also be reexamined.

Note:

  1. If you have any discomfort during your illness, you should go to the hospital for examination in time. You don’t have to wait until the time for examination.

  2. Fasting is not required to check nail function and blood routine, but fasting is required if liver function is to be checked at the same time.

  3. Whether you take oral medicine or do iodine 131, hypothyroidism may occur. If you have hypothyroidism symptoms such as fatigue, lethargy, edema, constipation and excessive weight gain, you should see a doctor in time.

Hypothyroidism

Review Time:

Newly diagnosed hypothyroidism, After taking the medicine, the nail skill was reexamined once a month. The nail skill returned to normal. It is not necessary to adjust the dosage frequently, and the disease enters a stable period, which can be extended to recheck the thyroid function once every six months. Hypothyroidism or subclinical hypothyroidism found in early pregnancy, because TSH should be controlled below 2.5 as soon as possible, can shorten the reexamination time as appropriate, recheck the thyroid function once every 2-3 weeks until TSH reaches the standard, and then change to recheck the thyroid function once every 4 weeks.

Note:

  1. The same as articles 1 and 2 of the precautions for hyperthyroidism.

  2. Don’t stop the drug before the examination.

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis

Review Time:

If there is no hypothyroidism, recheck the thyroid function every 6 ~ 12 months. If hypothyroidism symptoms such as fatigue, lethargy, edema, constipation and unwarranted weight gain occur, check the thyroid function at any time. If there is hypothyroidism, recheck according to the above hypothyroidism requirements.

Note:

  1. Don’t stop the drug before the examination.

  2. Anti-peroxidase antibody TPOAb and anti-thyroglobulin antibody TGAb are difficult to drop, so don’t care and don’t check these two items frequently.

  3. If a female patient with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is going to have a child, remember to check her thyroid function once before pregnancy, and control her TSH below 2.5 before pregnancy.

Thyroid nodule

Review Time:

After the first discovery of thyroid nodules, the benign and malignant nodules should be judged first. All patients with nodules need to check neck color Doppler ultrasound (including thyroid gland and cervical lymph nodes) and thyroid function (including TSH and TPOAb). In addition, some patients with nodules need to check calcitonin Ct, thyroid radionuclide imaging, fine needle biopsy, etc.

If the nodule tends to be benign, the neck color Doppler ultrasound should be reexamined every 6-12 months. If the nodule is suspected to be malignant but surgery is not considered for the time being, the neck color Doppler ultrasound should be reexamined at least every 3 months. Some patients (such as those with abnormal nail function, those undergoing surgery, TSH inhibition therapy or iodine 131 therapy) also need to be reexamined for nail function.

Note:

  1. The above review time is not absolutely unchanged. If the doctor has special instructions, please review according to the time arranged by the doctor.

  2. No matter whether it is benign or malignant nodules, if the nodules are found to grow rapidly in a short period of time, they should see a doctor in time.

  3. Whether the color Doppler ultrasound examination is accurate or not will be affected by the doctor’s technology, and the color Doppler ultrasound done by experienced ultrasound doctors is more credible.

  4. It is recommended to review thyroid nodules in a fixed hospital so that each report is comparable.

Thyroid carcinoma

Review Time:

Thyroid cancer is divided into many types, and each person’s condition is different, the specific how to review should be determined with the surgeon. Of course, there are also some universally applicable review principles:

Depending on the condition, Neck color Doppler ultrasound (including thyroid gland and cervical lymph nodes) was reexamined every 3 ~ 6 months within 1 year after operation. If there is no sign of cancer recurrence or metastasis, One year after operation, color Doppler ultrasound can be prolonged to be reexamined every 6 ~ 12 months. Thyroglobulin Tg and anti-thyroglobulin antibody TgAb are reexamined every 6 months after operation. If thyroxine is taken for TSH inhibition therapy after operation, After TSH reaches the standard, it is not necessary to adjust the dosage frequently, then the nail work is reexamined every 2 ~ 3 months within one year, every 3 ~ 6 months within two years, and every 6 ~ 12 months within five years.

Note:

  1. The above review time is not absolutely unchanged. If the doctor has special instructions, please review according to the time arranged by the doctor.

  2. It is recommended to review Tg and TgAb in a fixed hospital, because Tg measured by different laboratories cannot be compared with each other.

Subacute thyroiditis

Review Time:

The erythrocyte sedimentation rate should be reviewed every 1 ~ 2 weeks. The nail function should be reviewed every 4 weeks. Perfect other examinations according to the doctor’s requirements.

Note:

If you feel uncomfortable such as abdominal pain, black stool and fatigue during taking the medicine, you should see a doctor in time, which may be the side effect of the medicine.

Finally, remind everyone, don’t forget to bring medical records, previous examination forms, drinking water and drugs being taken when seeing a doctor. After getting the examination report, you should return to the clinic in time to let the doctor see if you want to adjust the medicine. Don’t go to the doctor every month, which may delay your illness.
