PSA is available in the physical examination. Is there any problem with the prostate?

A few days ago, Lao Zhang next door came to me mysteriously and asked me, [old man, I have a little thing to ask you, don’t you need to register? ]

To tell the truth, I refused in my heart. Lao Zhang said that only one of the [small] things was bigger than the other, and never was smaller. However, for the sake of the neighbors for so many years, I still agreed. [Good, good, do you have what to ask? ]

[A few days ago, the company examined my body and said that my what index was high-wait for me to take a look-yes, yes, PSA was high. The doctor said that there might be something wrong with my prostate gland, but I am very energetic and I don’t have anything wrong with my prostate gland. Ah, you must not tell my wife and daughter about this.]

[Is this PSA a what thing? Lao Zhang asked.

[PSA is a prostate-specific antigen, so you should regard it as a “mark” of the prostate.]

[I don’t understand this name when you tell me, will you tell me what will happen if you exceed it and will the fighting capacity decline? ]

[Lao Zhang, watch less TV advertisements, don’t say prostate gland is both energy and fighting capacity. Do you really think others care about your fighting capacity before giving you a physical examination… This is for cancer detection! ]

[Er… ah… cancer? Lao Zhang was somewhat surprised.

PSA is what?

PSA is a prostate specific antigen secreted by the prostate. To a certain extent, the content of PSA in blood can reflect the health status of the prostate, such as prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer, PSA can be significantly increased.

When prostate cancer is asymptomatic in the early stage, PSA can increase and can be found and treated early. Even if it is already in the middle or advanced stage of prostate cancer when found, timely treatment can also prolong survival time.

Since it is so easy to use, why don’t everyone check it? That’s not true.

Is there a what problem in PSA check?

Sometimes, even with prostate cancer, PSA does not increase. Sometimes it is found that PSA is elevated but there is no cancer, causing unnecessary panic and over-treatment. In other words, PSA examination alone may lead to missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis.

Or it is true that prostate cancer has been detected through PSA, but it is impossible to judge how [bad] the cancer is and whether it will metastasize quickly. If prostate cancer is diagnosed, but the progress of the cancer is so slow that it will not affect people’s normal life, the treatment received at this time will often be redundant and bring a lot of psychological pressure.

At present, the role of PSA in prostate cancer screening is controversial in academia. The American Urology Association recommends that only people with high risk of prostate cancer (55-69 years old, other family members who have suffered from prostate cancer, or blacks) should voluntarily undergo PSA examination every 2 years.

PSA should be checked for physical examination. Is there any what that needs attention?

PSA test results may fluctuate due to certain factors, causing the test results to be inaccurate. If you have done these things, you’d better wait for a period of time before going to the physical examination:

There was ejaculation in two days. There was strenuous exercise in two days. He has received prostate puncture examination in the past 6 weeks. He has received anal finger examination in the last week.

What do you think of the results of the examination?

1. PSA is normal

The normal value of PSA changes with age.

If the measurement results conform to the normal value of your age, you can basically rest assured. However, this is not absolute, and there are still a few prostate cancers that will not show PSA elevation. If there are no special symptoms of what (such as dysuria, nocturnal urination, lower abdominal pain, etc.), then regular physical examination is OK.

2. Slight increase in PSA

Generally speaking, [mild] is less than 10 ng/mL, but according to the historical population measurement data of each region and even each hospital, there may be a floating range.

Even if there is no prostate cancer, some middle-aged and elderly men will have a slight increase in PSA level, so if you find your PSA slightly increased, please don’t be too nervous. However, depending on your personal situation, if the doctor suspects that you are more likely to have prostate cancer, you may also be asked to have a reexamination or other tests.

3. PSA was significantly elevated

The higher the PSA, the greater the possibility of cancer. However, the diagnosis of prostate cancer cannot be directly obtained according to PSA, which only indicates that you should go for further examination.

PSA is high, what is the next step?

In order to confirm whether it is prostate cancer, no matter how to choose, chrysanthemum may suffer some crimes…

Generally, urologists will also help you do anal finger examination, that is, put your fingers into chrysanthemum and touch your prostate through your intestines. Is it getting bigger, hardened or painful when pressed?

Doctors may also recommend a prostate biopsy, taking directly some prostate tissue to analyze whether it is cancer. Although about two-thirds of the people who have received these injections are finally diagnosed as not cancer, the rest of the people who have diagnosed cancer will be glad to find it in time.

Early detection and treatment are of vital importance to what’s tumors.

It turns out that I will go to the hospital tomorrow. Which department should I go to? Lao Zhang asked.

[Urology.] If only this was the only problem from the beginning, I think.

[Great, it seems that I don’t need to add more blue pills. Bye-bye! ]

I left a supercilious look behind Lao Zhang’s far away figure.
